Back in February, a mate lent me his mountain bike, and 2 days later I remembered how much fun riding a bike was, it is true, you never forget how to ride a bike.
Then it was onto the wine farms and hills around where I live, the confidence soared and berms and single tracks were so much fun.
"Do a triathlon" my bike lending mate said, and more pressure from another friend and I agreed and signed up to do a Sprint Triathlon as it was only 500m / 550 yard swim, 20km / 12,4 mile ride and finishing off with a 5km / 3,1mile run.
So the training began, the shopping began, the weight fell off and more equipment was purchased.
And on April 27th, I completed my 1st triathlon.
Here's to the next one, October 1st here I come.
I still need to buy a road bike, a wet suit, new running shoes, but its been an experience and has necessitated life altering habits.
I'm fitter, stronger, slimmer, thinner and weigh less than I've done for at least 20 years.
