Hannah Christ is an independent illustrator based in New York. She works primarily in portraiture, often isolating moments from film and television in order to marry their tone with her own style.
This selection of work focuses on women in film and television who challenged gender stereotypes. These are women who demonstrated strength and unapologetically expressed anger. They showed their audiences that women could be messy, could be imperfect, and could dress however they please. I feel that this kind of female representation in the entertainment industry can change gender norms in far-reaching and crucial ways. My portraits aim to showcase these types of representation.
