Here and There
Standing up straight
The bricks crash through the skin windows there. Bruises form as fast as ice breaks. Stoic inside you smile for them outside yourself. Don't let them see you bleed.
Closed minds eye.
The full sunlight warms the white sand. This land is full of life, the water is crazy new dye blue. The shade seems to know its limits.
Your wanted here.
A breeze blows and white shirts wave hello as it passes.
Teeth shatter as a red rectangle is released into your face.
Listen as the waves lap at the sand like a kitten paws at its owner.
Stretching and pulling the beach like kneading dough.
Gasping for breath you shriek when someone pulls your heart from your chest, like a bare hand putting coals back in the fire, or water in hot oil.
Surges of reminiscent sunsets parade in to your mind, the golds, violets, and auburn all like spilled paint in the preschool. Sitting in the preheated sand watching the waves climb over the sun.
Hot acid runs down your checks burning to your cheekbones. the closet is to small and your eyes burn like Tabasco through a tattoo gun. The air is like breathing through a wet washcloth, you claw at yourself in desperation ripping your shirt from the inside out.
Each star has a name that you know by heart, they flicker like a million winking eyes of dear old men, sweet pipe smoke fills the air and the coconut water is always near.
Falling to your knees you see your headless body collapse
Throwing your self back like baby who lost balance on a bed of linen, you recline into the sand and look the new moon in the mouth, returning the gesture you smile at the one you have always loved most.
