My work is the result of pushing and pulling image making techniques to a breaking point until the edge of recognition is questioned and the line between abstraction and pictorial reality becomes blurred. I allow for the flow of free ideas to collide in such a fashion that the final result is something unexpected. Destruction and creation cannot be separated; my artwork is the final result of these processes working with and against each other.
Helios Lucida was born in the southwestern United States. The formidable years were spent in a rusty steel town located in the eastern part of the United States. It was during this epoch that the propensity for the imposition of a reconstructed visual reality began to take hold and manifest itself into the creative psyche. Formal matriculation was conducted at a societal institution, where upon completion a certificate was issued asserting such.
Helios Lucida currently resides in the central United States finding the location prime as a base camp for missions outside the perimeter and into the frontiers where expansive planes of geographical reality exist. It is here, where this experience is captured utilizing machines both small and large with technology both old and new. By employing various painting techniques the desired results are achieved through a distillation process that incorporates a newly reconstructed vision of reality.
