I've been doing this a while. I'm probably more clued up on the business than most songwriters. A part of me finds it fascinating and exciting as a toolbox for making a living from my passion. Another part of me wants to create great art that is totally detached from my own stream of income, to allow decisions to be pure and not influenced by my financial situation.
For £24, this seemingly pretty comprehensive book seemed like a wise purchase, to fill in the gaps in my understanding, and help me to find a way to spend more of my life creating music and less of it at my dayjob as an industrial designer (which don't get me wrong, I love and feel very lucky to be doing).
(I also bought new coffee, roasted in Berlin. Yum).
