Le Hybrid panel project phase1:
Instead of putting solar panels on top of my roof the panels are the roof. The aluminium frames of the solar panels rest on a simple aluminium support frame, 4mm thick. T profile in the middle, 90 degree angular profile on the top and bottom.
The panel frames are riveted to the frame on the top and bottom. In the middle the rivets go through the T profile and the frames of the panels above and below. Sealant between the frame and the panels makes the whole thing waterproof.
Together they form a self supporting structure.
Phase2: Cooling the panels with rainwater. Solar panels deliver their peak output at 25C. Operating temperature is usually above that. Rainwater of 10C can be fed along the bottom of the panel. Increasing efficiency and delivering warm water which can be fed to diswashers and washing machines saving energy on water heating. Or it can be used to heat the house.
