I’ve always considered imagination one of the greatest powers we humans have. Just look at it! The force we have to be able to imagine how to be something else, how it might be to go to distant planets or fights zombies or just being someone else, someone completely ordinary. Imagination is such an impressive host of whatever you want it to be.
It was Alan Moore who came up with the concept of the Ideaspace. There’s been similar ideas around since many years back, but according to Moore it’s a reality shaped in our minds, which can take its own form and life when connecting to other Ideaspaces. For example, the idea of God is a creation from the Ideaspace, where clusters of ideas have gathered and developed christianity until it is its own entity. The world of Dr Who and Star Trek are other examples where it’s nowadays is hard to say that there’s one single creator.
It’s quite remarkable if you look at it closer. You shape something in your mind, like me writing this text with a complex system of characters and consciously and subconsciously social constructions, from what’s easy to read to how to spell certain words, or you analysing my text and continues to write on the subject somewhere else - and both me and you have taken these abstract things, these completely “imaginary” things and made them manifest themselves in this reality. Maybe just in the shape of this very sentence or this book you’re holding in your hands. Visualise a painting or furniture in your mind, paint or build it in this reality and you’ve moved something from one reality to another. Everything that’s been created is taken from the Ideaspace and put into this world, and it’s not that much mumbo jumbo as it seems at first - it all depends how you chose to see it, or name it.
On a more sinister note; I believe that we to a certain degree create physical entities without really wanting to create them. This is not as crazy as it sounds, but more like this: Donald Trump is a collective creation taken from millions after millions of humans and the darker parts of their minds. Imagine all that small-minded bitterness, all that racism and greed that never fully develops into something more serious but slowly grows subconsciously inside us all, leaking out in small doses from us all and just grows bigger as it finds likeminded feelings. All this hate and greed and stupidity is slowly creating a race of hateful people, some more and some less, which creates a society of stupidity - which shapes newer generations, from parents to kids to friends to co-workers to… you get my point. At the end of each generation there's an army of idiots, some of them richer and more powerful, some just ending their lives with a syringe in their arm under a bridge.
But the rich ones, the ones with power, they just continue to grow and spread new forms of ideas and concepts, ultimately generating humans like Trump or Putin or whatever greedy asshole you have out there, people who for some lesser intelligent people have charisma - and soon they’re in charge - and because they’re in charge the majority of fools out there think they’re born leaders.
It’s the nightmare version of the Ideaspace, a reality where single ideas becomes clusters of ideas - some of completely insane - and soon some of the more sick human minds slowly takes these concepts out from the Ideaspace and turns them into reality. We’re all guilty to this. For every hostile thought we generate, even the slightest, there’s a chance they in ten years, hundred years or a thousand years will turn into disaster.
It’s impossible to not think negative thoughts, those who say they don’t, they lie. I do it all the time. But it’s nothing wrong to dislike something or someone, or even hate - but we need to take care of those thoughts, use them wisely and not as something we manifest because we’re afraid of the unknown. The best thing we can do is to use what we have to something we enjoy, something that won’t hurt others - and connect to people with as similar or interesting Ideaspaces as us. Which makes us create something rewarding, something mysterious, fun and awesome, loving and smart; an infinity Ideaspace reality that leads to a multitude of results - all satisfying for those who deserve and appreciate them.
