A Few Words on Magic.
I’ve been working - and I know - a lot of so-called psychics, people claiming to be able to see into the future, talk with ghosts, remove demons, read hands and many other things. It’s been an interesting road to say the least, learning a few things about that business - both things that some people would say is immoral and some things that I would say is pure greatness. It all comes together with what we call magic, or lesser magic - or even greater magic. Read Anton LaVey’s The Satanic Bible for a good read about what it is, please. As I see it there’s two kinds of psychics; those who know what they’re doing and those who know what they’re doing. Well, yeah, there’s only one way to do it, but with a slight subtle change; the awareness of what one are doing;
The unaware psychic have realized that certain words and moves makes people easily manipulated or believe in the supernatural, but he will never be fully aware of why this is working.
The aware psychic knows this is working and have applied their own logic (which of course will have been inherited from earlier sources) to it and accepts that it’s working and believe in what it does.
Being a traditional psychic is of course far easier than to be than giants in the field, either just by reputation (which is it’s own magic) or by creating something so interesting people will never forget, and therefore giants like Aleister Crowley, Anton LaVey, Alan Moore, Nostradamus and even Rasputin are a lot more rare.
Magic in the forms of rituals works on some many levels, Alan Moore have written and talked about, for example how advertising basically is really cheap spells and entertainment is rituals, existing to start or end emotional reactions, from high quality and pure crap. So if you look it this way; when a psychic enters a house for a so-called house cleaning or seance, he or she performs a ritual in the form of intuitively talking with “ghosts”, showing different kinds of emotions, using sage or other props to cleans the room from bad energy, and in the end the client will feel happier and calmer, maybe able to sleep again.
The thing that differs is the actual performance and what insights the psychic have gotten that far in his life, which also means that one’s a fraud by doing something without deep knowledge and the other is real, according to the rules of lesser and greater magic, which is the purest form of knowledge of human behavior. Therefore psychiatrists, politicians, priests, artists, doctors, teachers, authors and all other kinds of talents (yes, even psychics) that speaks directly to the human soul and mind in one way or the other all are different kinds of chaos magicians - all though on different levels and with a wide array of qualities and ambitions. I’m not saying all of them deserves credit or admiration for what they’re doing, but they all use the same basic idea about changing reality according to one’s will. To be honest, most of them are way too stupid to know what kind of talents they have and waste it on either becoming incredibly unhappy themselves, or making other people unhappy.
And don’t forget that the audience, the client, whatever it is, also is using magic by believing and trusting the chaos magician. They need to accept and embrace what’s coming to them to make it happen, which is an even more important form of magic. Like Yin and Yang they complete each other. Both the transmitter and the receiver needs to believe in magic, or whatever you call it, to make it work.
It’s that simple.
