One year ago the Cisse Valley in France went through the flood of the century. It rained so much that houses turned into swimming pools and all roads were closed. Biodiversity got hit the most. The majority of the fish ended up in the farm fields. The forest animals died poisoned as the water got contaminated. The circumstances were uncanny to the most, unprepared to the days of rain, with no precedents to the memory of people living in the region.
I've been invited as artist in residency by H2O Festival to bring there the practice of Scribblitti (www.scribblitti.com). Along the three weeks spent there I travelled along the region covering more than 200 miles to interview the water engineers of the Cisse river, the farmers and the very different souls that helped each other and the animals living in the region as they could, at their best.
I made three Scribblittis in the region, three free hand drawings made directly with a marker on the walls of the territory that follow the memories I collected while here.
