Actividade / gravação integrada e financiada pelo projecto Festival DME: A Paisagem Sonora em que Vivemos.
This recording was made in an industrial context, inside a deactivated tower that was previously used to burn fuel. This tower is located in the town of Rosário, Moita, Portugal. The approach to the place was mediated by some specific concepts, such as: place, object as instrument, performative activation, geolocation and digital territory. This track was recorded in four different audio channels, being two of them contact microphones.
The concept of place, object as instrument, is related with the approach to the processes of field recording in a physically active way. An intervention is made in the site that aims to transform it in an instrument or object of acoustic and formal possibilities by performative activation. This activation comes from a group of actions, gestures and movements developed in the place which are made with the objective of generate a set of events and acoustic qualities. It creates a distance from a language only centered in the listening and documentation of the place and its acoustic events, landscape and elements.
Another used strategy was the contemplation of processes that involve geolocation and representations of digital territories by using a mobile phone connection to an IP address: 220.127.116.11 which is provenient from the coordinates Latitude / Longitude: 51.8995, 7.64055 that uses the software glSDR v1.50 APK . From there, it was emitted to the place of recording a radio frequency USB upper side band. This option was developed with the objective of bringing to evidence other levels of territory from the electromagnetic fields and by showing the articulation with the domains of digital that articulate representations between the real and the virtual.
