So a little background #history of this piece was written a year ago. It has been 17 years since I left #Dili - #EastTimor or #TimorLeste my beloved motherland. We came to Australia back in 1999, September the 14 to be precise due to the destruction and war for wanting to be an Independent country. So yeah, I came in as a legitimate and legal refugee, we were picked up by the Australian Army boeings and delivered safely to Darwin. Out of almost 2000 refugees only my family (mum, dad, my sister and I) and three other single individuals left here. Due to my mum's medical condition (kidney failure) we were immediately granted the Permanent Resident visa in 2001 and not long after that we received our Citizenship in 2007. Anyways, back to this piece, I wrote it just before I went back to visit after 16 years being in Australia. It was so different, I had a massive cultural shock all over again, it was foreign. But my family and loved ones were the same people as far as I can remember them. Well, that's pretty much it. I'd like to talk about it more down the track and oh, I donated my kidney to my mum in 2008 and currently mum and dad are back in Dili - living their lives and trying to collect the memories they have longed for the past 10 years ( they went back to Timor in 2010).
Well, that's it folks! Thank You for reading! :)
