“If art is to change the world, then artists must become agents of change.”
– John Johnston, iMAE-ArtEZ
Now, more than ever, artists need to step up and prove the importance of art to society; to promote thought, raise awareness, connect people, and bring positive changes to society.
The international Master Artist Educator (iMAE) from ArtEZ University of Arts in the Netherlands is an innovative and ambitious master program that started in 2016. iMAE represents a new and innovative concept in arts education.
“We believe in the power of the arts to enable change. iMAE enables and inspires its students to dedicate their thoughts and artistic practice to defend human rights, to challenge injustice and to resolve conflict.”
See All This is a Netherlands-based art magazine established in 2016. All renowned art museums in the Netherlands as well as well-known galleries are partners in See All This. The print magazine is published four times a year. The tagline of See All This is ‘For The Love Of Art’.
See All This and a group of iMAE students and tutors have teamed up to invite all female creative souls in any visual arts medium to submit work addressing our current patriarchal society, one ruled by men with regards to power structures and individual relationships.
“We are looking for work that explores patriarchy and what it means to you – as a woman – in everyday life. How does patriarchy manifest in your work as an artist? How would you challenge current gender codes? This may be interpreted in a broad sense, all together it is about the story of you, the joyful and/or vulnerable story of being a woman.”
The curatorial team of iMAE, See All This, and Ello will select 20 artists who will be featured on the See All This blog. A shortlist of 10 artists will be published in See All This magazine, Summer Issue No. 10 coming out June 15 (print). In addition to being published in the printed magazine, each artist from the final shortlist will also receive a written review of their work from iMAE.
Join them in the creative endeavor to use the arts to reshape culture and promote the improvement of women’s position in today’s society.
