PAINTING AND SCULPTURE
His pictorial style has evolved during the years of experimentation with spray painting, or Aerosol-Art. He paints on different supports and formats, from small paintings to walls of residential and industrial buildings.
He prefers the figurative genre with parts of anatomy and dream figures, drawn from his unconscious, interacting with surreal landscapes and complex structures.
In his urban art activities he utilized a 3D-style of graphic lettering, the letters formed by metaphoric ribbons that stand out from the background, writhing in a harmonic dance of arching lines and vanishing points amongst improbable Escher-style architectural structures.
The lettering gradually abandoned its role of protagonist to become an abstract entity on its own.
This has led him to the creation of composite images both in painting and in clay modelling, and finally in sculpting in stone and marble.
In Carrara where he now lives and works, he has developed a unique and personal style inspired by industrial design and traditional sculpting techniques. He blends simple lettering with three dimensional sculpting and trans-architectural forms creating elegant and sinuous compositions where letters emerge as a part of the whole.
For now, his evolution as an artist has found, in sculpture, the inevitable progression of his research and curiosity into visual language.
Daniele Brochetelli works in Carrara at the Monfroni marble art workshop and collaborates with other studios and workshops in the area.
