JADE MARRA (n. 1992), is a visual artist who lives and works in Belo Horizonte - Brazil.
The artist, in her research, investigates womens’s place in contemporary society and works with the possibility of subverting the socially constructed understanding of the female body. Her work explores the potency and autonomy of this body by recognizing its agency capacity beyond the secondary role which is often assigned to it.
In this context, her production is based on reflections and investigations, often conceptually contextualized in its immediate surroundings. Thus, starting from questions as a premise, her work unfolds in a series of material possibilities and open answers, that motivate new investigations.
Jade’s work was presented in collective exhibitions, among them: "Rundgang", Hochschule für Kunst, Design und Populäre Musik, Freiburg, Germany (2016); "Mostra Interna", Escola Guignard, Belo Horizonte, Brazil (2016) and “Subverta-se”, Galeria Mama Cadela, Belo Horizonte, Brazil (2017). The artist presents her first solo exhibition "Toque" from January to February of 2018 at the COPASA art gallery, Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
