It's hard to believe it's been almost a month since I found out about Ello and instantly took to Twitter to request an invite (which was replied to almost as quickly by the awesome @nix_
However, the question remains - what the fuck am I going to do with this?
Given Ello's reputation for being a creative forum rather than simply another blog I'm going to challenge myself to create something every day. Now, it should be said that I am not an artist. Although I went to school for advertising (among many other things - no, really) I am god awful at being artistic. I like to think I'm a great creative director but I basically shit the bed when it comes to creating the art myself.
So for the next, let's say 360 days, I'm going to challenge myself to create something every day. It doesn't have to be original or even be good - let's face it, most of the time it will be hilariously awful. As a matter of fact, this whole "create something every day" idea has been borrowed from many brilliant minds that have taken their time to speak to me (or in my general direction at conferences). Yay for originality!
So the rules are simple: it doesn't matter what I create or what medium I use as long as it's something that comes from my head and it can be used as self expression. From essays to mock ads and even (probably) a lot of cat themed photos/crafts. The point of this experiment is to stop consuming media and start contributing, even if it's shitty self-expression.
If anyone asks, I did it for the portfolio.
