I happened upon two manatees having coitous. I managed to get this shot off. As I drifted in closer they submerged in the shallow muddy water and hid from me. I could see bubbles drifting up and I imagined the two down there thinking, "Jesus! Who's this guy?".
I left them alone.
Late that same day as I was exiting the mangrove swamp and heading towards the coast I past this same spot. As I paddled against the incoming tide I heard the whoosh of an exhale and this same guy pushed past me. I fell in behind him and thought "okay it's a race". Every 20 seconds he would roll and take a breath.
I held my own for a little while, but it was no real contest. He slowly pulled away.
