About The Artist
Andrew Hoffman is a Denver-based artist. His work has been shown nationally and internationally, including exhibitions at: Western State College in Gunnison, CO, Gallery Z in Tokyo, Japan, The World Bank in New York City and Groundswell Gallery in Denver, CO. He has also exhibited works at The Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, The Denver Art Museum and RedLine. Outside of his art endeavors, he works as a user interface designer at Deloitte Digital. He is also a freelance illustrator, as well as an adjunct professor at Metro State University of Denver.
Duality is the concept of opposing forces that complement each other, a principle tenant of existence. A universal theme that transcends time, technology and society. The work in this show is heavily influenced by graphic design aesthetics, in particular, symbology. The work places emphasis on the power and ethos that a symbol invokes, rather than the direct meaning. The mixing and mashing of these known icons creates a familiar, yet new experience. Reoccurring themes in the work include: minimalism, regionalism, mysticism and sustainability.
