Tall and Meiji
This is one of the torii gates that you pass through on your way to Meiji Jingu in Tokyo. Apparently torii gates are supposed to symbolically mark the transition from the mundane to the sacred. We were surprised by the number of people who were strolling through the park-like area in their business suits with their colleagues. Taking a walk by the shrines seemed to be a normal after-work event.
Yesterday I should have mentioned that in Akihabara on a Monday night, the arcades were packed and there was no shortage of people in their business attire gaming away before going home from work. I think Japanese culture (from what we experienced) is a bit more formal than I'm used to, at least in attire.
Today's taste of Japan is part of my #weekoftokyo in which I focus my shares on the biggest city in the country. There's so much diversity in what you might find in Tokyo!
