"What's your favorite thing to shoot?"
It's a question that people like to ask photographers, but it's not a simple one to answer. There's not really one thing I like to shoot. What I'm usually doing when I pick up a camera is I'm chasing a feeling that comes from a unique convergence of form, color, composition, and story.
If I'm persistent and fortunate enough to capture one of these moments, it always makes me laugh. Not because it's funny, but because I'm just amazed that these moments are all around us all the time. And to see them we just need to spend a bit more time looking.
The image above was shot in East St. Louis at around 8am. I dont' know what happened here before I arrived. I do know that this one definitely made me laugh.
