On this, it was actually the rough draft design to a stone sculpture I never finished. Although I love how the clay piece came out so I painted it. I was going to hollow it out to use as a flower vase but it had become too hard to hollow out by time I found some time to do so. It wasn't fired so it will probably crack after a few years but that is fine. I painted it with that in mind and the concept flows with it.
So the inspiration for this piece is a melting abstract heart. It was heavily inspired in appearance, color scheme, and paint style from the artists Tim Burton, Salvador Dali, and David Lynch.
