Artist Statement
In my paintings, I absorb various elements from different visual cultures. From architectonics, cartography, fashion, technology, machineries, and weightlifting. I am fascinated by these subjects for their order and structure, and mechanisms within their realm. The visual elements I cull from these subjects are reconstructed and reorganized. With that notion, shapes and textures are reinterpreted in both a precise and unkempt manner, to create a similar or different impression that was portrayed to me. The shapes undergo a countless procedure of create and destroy, resulting in a cause-and-effect phenomenon, each layer interacting and communicating with another, creating an ecosystem. As a whole, these components appear as a system, with its own order and structure.
