Spanning several years, "Signaling" is an ongoing collection of photographs displayed as diptychs. A common tool for survival issued by the army, the signal mirror is a simple reflective mirror used to communicate information and one's location across vast spaces. “Signaling” is an unfolding vernacular of communication through the prism of spatial proximity and distance where the resulting images communicate the emotional and physical distance between two people. Within various landscapes, this series is a reaction to environmental and relational shifts, revealing distance and intimacy. By using an antiquated tool for survival, a romantic urgency emerges through the series. The evolving photographs highlight a playful affection alongside an aching for connection.
