WORLD AIDS DAY
At the LGBT Foundation in Manchester on December 1 at noon, Balaclava-Q will present HIVideo, an art film event to both commemorate World AIDS Day, and to create meaningful connections between audience and artist surrounding the continuing issue of living with HIV/AIDS.
HIVideo will be presenting 4 compelling and moving video artworks on the theme of HIV/AIDS by 4 contemporary artists from across the planet:
‘Bloed’ by Wilhelm Vincent (South Africa)
‘Silencio’ by Emmanuel Barrouyer (France)
‘Long-Term Survivor’ by Jose Cortes (Puerto Rico) - recent winner of the jury's award at the Puerto Rico Queer Film Festival 2016.
‘There & Not There (Nirtogen)’ by Stiofan O’Ceallaigh (UK).
Two more video artworks will be sourced from Visual AIDS, New York archives by the artist Jose Luis Cortes.
The Manchester event will be curated by the artist Stiofan O'Ceallaigh/Stephen Kelly. I will also be at the event (John Hopper), so feel free to say hi, I would love to see you. If you can make it to the LGBT Foundation in Manchester on Dec 1 at noon, please do so (tickets are free). It would mean a great deal to everyone at Balaclava-Q, and it would signal a great and continuing support for World AIDS Day.
