100 YEARS ON AND WHAT A SODDING WASTE
Passchendaele 100 years ago today
It could have been last week
For all the deaths that never went away
Are you feeling warm and tingly
As more die around us each week
With no whisper as each drop singly?
Sick to hear solemn oaths of 'never again'
While military shares rise each week
Yet the deaths of millions and ignorance stain
Easy for those in high places
To caution hell repeating every week
While scrubbing records of complicit traces
No stopping innocents suffering bloody wars
These days committed in less than a week
With barely a thought of conscience given pause
Well, we are many you are few
That lay down lies each day each week
The next bomb obliterating life will fall on you!
