When we got to this little bit of coast, the wind was pushing strong, the waves were crashing and four fishing boats like the one in the background were wheeling around in circles. It looked like they were doing donuts in the water for the fun of it. We watched them for a bit but didn’t really get what was going on. I got an explanation later. There were a bunch of red buoys in the water; each buoy had about four or five lobster traps attached to it on the bottom of the ocean. Each of the boats was fighting the wind and waves to stay close to their buoy and pull up each lobster cage one by one, gather lobster and decide whether to move the traps to another part of the coast or leave them there. Pretty impressive to watch, especially after learning what exactly they were doing. And good to eat, too.
