Most of the time that we were beside the coast, the ocean was grey. But at night after the sun had set, it turned a deep blue, blending into the clouds and ice, leaving only faint lights in the distance cloning across it. My favourite time of day. It has a loneliness to it sometimes, other times a fullness, other times not. Hard to describe but easy to feel.
When I put these photos beside each other the juxtaposition between the old and the new, and the small and the mighty, became very visible. Hadn’t it realized it at the time but these images say a lot about North Atlantic culture.
