We scrambled up the rock and tried not to walk on the lichen as we reached the light of the setting sun. I’m sure at midday the landscape would have been a lot less stunning, but as it was the orange of the sunset mixed with the blue of the shadows, plus the green trees and red moss. The rocky hills were alive with colour.
The highway was close enough to photograph but the sounds of the vehicles faded into the distant hills as they reflected the sun. When you’re beside the highway the vehicles roar and rush by you, but from the top of the cliffs overlooking the road, they were like a silent movie. I felt a sense of contentedness at being done for the day, letting the cars continue on their way but being still and ready to sleep myself.
