Playing with layers.
I didn't make a specific MLK Day post, for a number of reasons, but I'll append a few thoughts here. Today, it's just as imperative as it was 50 years ago, to stand up for our fellow humans. We live in a supposedly tolerant society, but the basic respect for the humanity of your neighbors, your friends, those you ride the subway with, the people who work with you, etc. is actively being undermined. I'm speaking particularly to those of us who are white cis het males, and enjoy being seen as the status quo or the default—remember that those around you deal with struggles you haven't and probably never will empirically understand, and support those around you accordingly. And to everyone out there, of all stripes, let's make 2017 the year that humanity remembered to stand up for itself against those who would destroy it. Love you all!
