Sometime in the early 2000s I found myself with several dead monitors and television sets, and figured I could use a place to rack my DVDs. I don't own all of these discs anymore.
The interior shelf was generally a chunk of metal harvested from a dead DVD player, bent to serve the housing. I went through an assortment of cheap DVD players in watching nearly everything in VCD format from 2000-2005.
These photos go back a while, as they're all in storage at the moment. And the shelf on this last one has been lowered to make it a shelf for trade paperbacks.
The tower case from an old PC made for a nice manga divider. The 'upper shelf' was yanked from the back of a DVD player.
This was a portion from the interior of another monitor. You can see some of the DVDs move from shelf to shelf in these pics. I always found it very rewarding to re-purpose these, and relatively simple to do.
