I've had this blanket for as long as I can remember. When I had a cat in my 20s I noticed he liked to lay on laundry (as I think most cats are likely to) so I cut up some worn out t-shirts and hand-stitched them on to the worn out side so the cat would hang out on my bed. After he passed away I added a few more patches as a memorial. It's in need of repair and I need a pre-winter side project... as well as a warmer blanket.
I think of it as a half-life in nerd-skins, as though every patch I add keeps me young somehow. Those shirts can be pricey, it's hard to let them go when they start to get holes or stains. I count 10 spots to mend but will also break up some of the larger areas in the pre-winter fixing.
