I had something else ready to go as a last post of the year, but I am switching gears. This was shot yesterday. We weren’t planning on driving through the #ThomasFire burn area, and just kind of ended up there. This was the largest #wildfire in California history. It was sad. It was tragic. It was beautiful. It was inspiring. It was life-affirming. Driving past the burnt lands and burnt houses, there were already small signs of cleanup, of rebuilding, of life. I’ve always had a fascination with the structural and ecological regrowth that happens after a devastating fire. So today, I’d like to remind everyone (especially myself) that 2017 is coming to a close, and all the mental/emotional baggage it brought is hours away from being fully engulfed.
Tomorrow is a new day.
Tomorrow we rise like the fucking phoenixes we are!
