I have 7 years of #sobriety today. A little over 7 years ago, my life looked a lot different than it does today. Frankly speaking, it was an absolute mess. I had “taken a break” from photography. And by that I mean I had traded all my camera gear for a tiny bit of cash at a South Florida pawn shop. That cash was used to buy opiate pain killers that ultimately wound up crushed up and snorted into my nose. And that’s pretty much how my life was for many years. My hopes, dreams, and intentions were all crushed up and snorted. Today, 7 years later, life is different. Life is better. Life is also far from perfect (what does perfect even mean). I’m human, and I have my struggles. The difference is, I get to show up to my own life to face these problems with a clear head. It’s such a cliche saying, but it’s true: I don’t have everything I want, but I want everything I have. Oh, and I also share my sober birthday with the real birthday of a Ms #BettyWhite.
