Many years ago, when I was on track for a career in science, I had a different worldview. I naively thought that everything could be broken down into its component parts, that all life’s questions could be answered. I believed that all hypotheses could with be proven true, or proven false. That things were yes or no, black or white; that problems were binary. I was wrong. Although I still adore science and all that it stands for, I’ve since learned that not all problems can be mapped to a predictable graph. I’ve learned that a gray area exists. And I’m learning to love existence in this gray area, and that I’m content with the slight existential angst that comes with not knowing where the borders of this gray start and end.
