Light has been something I have been focused on over the past year. How it changes perspective, focus and mood. For those who have seen my work, my most recent paintings have been Light and Lucent. These pieces have metal leaf as a sort of base layer on the paintings. From there I add in multiple layers of paint (acrylic and gouache) as well as chalk. The painting begins to develop a depth to it... and depending on the angle at which you view the painting, sometimes you can't see the reflective characteristic of the metal leaf at all. These particular shots I took at low light for this painting. Depending on the time of day and light sources, I rather like seeing how this painting changes. It isn't a portrait, it is an abstract piece that becomes something else entirely from every angle. This has been, as I said, something I have been thinking about a lot over the past year. Still putting a few finishing touches on this piece, but it is about 99% done. You can see in this particular photo, I took it straight on in low-light. The other shots are angled and you can't see the reflective sections at all.
