Bed, Bath, & Beyond today was an overwhelming experience: a monstrous building, floor-to-ceiling with gizmos and gadgets and peculiar inventions. Once, I was accustomed to stores like these: the size of small towns, filled with wonders and people and strange items. I traversed only a section of the store, a vast foreign country. Outside, I found more giant buildings crammed with amazements, more people bustling about in strange fashions. No one has patience for my awe. Perhaps I have lived in my small town too long.
