DEBRIEF
** Hi Florence, could you introduce Novembre in a few words please ?
>> Hi! Novembre is a publication about fashion and art, mixing beauty and innovations, and young creation and established brands together.
** When did you started it ?
>> We started 8 years ago, when we finished school (ECAL, in Lausanne, Switzerland).
** Who reads Novembre ?
It’s a tough question, I don’t know exactly, I guess people who prefer images over words?
** What did you wanted to express ?
>> We want to showcase what we find relevant, people we find talented and moving.
** What is your creative engine, your DNA ?
Inspiration from other people, anything we find beautiful or interesting basically.
** Nowadays, there are a lot more independent magazines on the bookshelves, more than ever, what’s your point of view on this fast evolution ?
>> It’s great !
** How is it to finance, maintain alive, grow and launch your own magazine in 2018 ?
>> Constant, daily work, emails and meetings !
** During this PFW you launched your 13th issue, can you tell us more about it, what was the main theme for this issue ?
>> We have contributions by Marilyn Minter, Buffalo Zine, Tobjorn Rodland, Beni Bischof, Nicolas Coulomb, Angela Santana, Image Group, Sylvie Fleury, Florian Joye, Manon Wertenbroeck, Nicole Maria Winkler. Ed Curtis, and many more...
No specific theme, just keywords and themes we speak between us but we do not say it out loud!
** In an issue of Novembre, how many teams, stylists and photographers, can be involved?
>> There’s no rule, but usually 6 to 10 different editorials.
** Do you prefer a large amount of contributors, or restricting collaborations to a very few ?
>> Again, no rule, we can have 50 pages featuring only one person’s work, and one page for another work, as long as it feels right for us.
** How do you picture the future of independent fashion press ?
Like you said, there are more independent magazines nowadays, and it’s a good thing, to see more opinions, more creativity out there.
** Would you say it will be easier or will it get harder to publish our own magazine ?
>> I can’t tell, but i hope easier? crossing fingers…
** Any ideas on what will be next in this specific area?
>> I don’t know, but for sure Novembre issue 14 :).
