The wine inspired collection, Burgundy Decanted, is based on the Autumn Winter 2016 forecast of Promostyl. This collection celebrates the rich hue of full-bodied red grape wine. The look of the gowns is antiquated and the silhouettes involve sheath and capes. Embellishment is in engineered-placement, such as on necklines, or shoulder, or bodice. Gunmetal bugles, Swarovski stones, and other shimmer material- all in silver and grey hues- are used for embroidery to give the garments a twang of medieval feel.
I was mentored by ace designer, Mr Hemant Trevedi. He oversaw and approved the sketch development, material sourcing, colour scheme, etc. The design process, right from selecting a forecast and colour story, to sourcing the materials and making tech packs, to deciding the seam stitches and embroidery patterns, to stitching the garments, to organizing photo shoots, was done singularly by me in a period of four months.
