So Ello is teaching me something new for a social network. The lack of "Like", "Favorite", "+", etc. means that I'm posting for me, not for the responses I get. Typically on other social networks or photography sites I post a photo and then wait for the likes to come rolling in. Without that, for the first couple of posts, Ello seemed weird. I wondered if people were even enjoying my posts. However, what I'm learning from this experiment is that I'm posting the photos because I want to share. I post and then I continue on looking at other people's stuff or get on with my day. I'm no longer worrying about whether people liked it or not because I've put it out there for better or worse. Time to move on.
So thanks @Ello for teaching me that I can function on a social network where it isn't all about re-affirmation but sharing for the joy of sharing.
