Things I am thankful for this Thanksgiving Day:
For Betty Desire and her family, who have welcomed me into their home for Thanksgiving dinner.
For Bard, for being a friend who reminds me to smile.
For Michael DelGado and Anne Albosta, for being good friends and good neighbors.
For my health, physical and mental, both of which are improving!
For having a roof over my head, a warm bed to sleep in, clean running water, indoor plumbing, food in my belly, electricity, internet, computers and smartphones.
For Interfaith Community Health Center, and the excellent team of doctors, nurses, and behavioral health therapists whose effective ministrations keep me functional.
For my education, and the ability to read and think critically.
For science and reason, which brought us out of the dark and into the light of knowledge.
For the freedom of conscience, thought, belief, and speech.
For this wonderful part of the world I live in. Cascadia, I love you!
For the Black Drop Coffee House for giving me a place to go and be social, even when I am broke.
For my job at NWCLIC, which gives me a reason to leave the apartment on dark days.
For legal weed and gay marriage.
(Now I just need to find a husband! Or two.)
For still being alive at age 46, longer than most human beings have ever lived, and for having the privilege of living during this age of wonders, at this remarkable time in human history.
In gratitude for all these things I have, for every friend and relative and stranger on whom my very survival depends, for every one and every thing that makes it possible for me to exist, I thank you.
