Bio / Keya Tama is a 20 year old South African street artist based in Los Angeles. He has been painting and participation in street art festivals around the world since the age of Thirteen. His inspiration comes from Patterns stories and archetypes from around the world. His artistic style reflects the fluid spontaneity of children's stories. He uses sayings and myths from ancient societies around the world and mixes this with modern symbols to create a new world that allows the viewer to re imagine context.
artists statement / these works speak about how communities make us who we are. Our families and communities teach us who we are by allowing us to imitate them and find ourselves in the process. the works speak to the relationship between the individual and the journey each person they have to make before they can return to their communities having learned the lessons you have to go through alone.
