My name is Kill Joy and I am a Filipino-American artist from Texas living in Mexico City. I am inspired by nature and mythology, both of which have been guiding posts for us during life's conflicts and opportunities. Because our modern society has lost it's connection to itself, to each other, to nature, to mythology, I try to remind people where are true source of power lies. Every day we are bombarded with advertisements and propaganda constantly telling us to hate ourselves, to fight each other, to spend money, to destroy our bodies and the environment. Graffiti and street art continues to have a reputation of notoriety in many parts of the world, especially Latin America. With these street interventions depicting natural elements in an urban landscape, I seek to put up daily resistance against a capitalist structure that attempts to keep us from our true selves.
