I work with painting, drawing and traditional animation. My current research revolves around themes like ecology, women, nature, and the relations between humans and non-human animals. In my image-making process I try to bridge the gap we as a society have created between us and the Other; the other being the unknown, the unruled, the wild, and the intruder. I am interested in investigating the political resistance of relationships that cross the socially accepted dogmas of society.
Questioning European culture and Cartesian philosophy, I revisit hierarchies built into traditional western painting and try to reimagine new possibilities and alternatives stories.
From this outset I create images that grow organically during the painting’s creation and that transform through a process of overlapping, erasing, adding, and scraping. The painting becomes a body, a place of transit, a battlefield, an event, trace of an accident; but also testimony of its own happening.
