In my search for visual forms, I consolidate the exchange between my personal gaze as an artist, and the narrative contained within the subject. What I look for in this narrative is the representation of not only a catharsis, but also the revelation of a hidden identity. It is not the pose, product of training or repetition.
My method is simple: to stimulate irrationality in gestures, in pauses, and in poses. It is almost the same process as with a performance, but above all, it is the final result of automatism. Emman Acasio got a scholarship at the University of Sto. Tomas where he received his BFA in 2005, Cum Laude. He was also the recipient of the Outstanding Thesis of the Year with his book illustration which tackled the distinct personality of each of the 17 regions of the Philippines. He worked full-time in Singapore as an Art Director but has always found time to pursue his passion for the arts, particularly painting. Emman currently resides in Antipolo City, ideally close to the character of his works- nature.

A native of the East Coast, one of my first memories when I moved here in 1982 was the boardwalk at Venice Beach. There, I saw rollerskating guitar players, punks eating out of trash cans, palm trees and teeshirts. So many to-the-point and colorful graphics captured in my head so long ago havefinally manifested in this series of work.
