It's thing now, writers. An Ello thing. We shall post our draft excerpts here, for all to see. JOIN THE GAME. (Check out @kevinhearne's, @chuckwendig's, and @jayewells's feeds for their fantastic excerpts).
Here is the beginning of CORNERS, my next novel, really a sketch, so more like draft 0. I'm starting to write it on October 6th.
The world had corners. All kinds of corners. Dark creepy corners, dusty corners, forgotten corners. Corners to be discovered, like page corners of a book that hasn't been read, hasn't even been written. To be found and lifted and peeked under, if you knew where to look. If you knew how. Bells did. And didn't. She didn't know she knew, she was about to find out.
"Piss it!" She yelled at Peacock.
"Watch where you're going!"
"Gee. Bossy today." Peacock steered his bike out of the way.
Bells furiously pedaled past him, head high, dark pony tail whipping in the wind.
"Girls." Scoffed Peacock.
"I know, right?" Came from Rusty.
Grand didn't say anything. He pedaled last in the group, as always, his jiggling girdle giving him trouble.
