Emptying your mind is as important as filling in.
Lately I have been practicing meditation, and the buzz in my head is astounding. Just watching all those thoughts makes me sick. I do it in the evenings, after I finish my daily reading, and the results are astounding. I sleep more, and in the mornings my writing is more focused and I produce higher quality work.
And all because I started practicing emptying my brain of all this dross it constantly churns that exhausts me. I used to fill my head with a constant steam of informational input, mostly in the shape of reading books. Now that I empty it daily, paradoxically the need to fill it has diminished.
