It took me years to develop my boundaries and to understand that NO ONE has the right to touch my body in any manner unless I give them permission. NO ONE. This includes hugs and handshakes and even shoulder pats. I’m getting much better these days to tell people, “I don’t hug.” I’m a hugger by nature, and it was very difficult to stop this habit. I used to throw myself at people. At anyone. Not anymore. This is the price we pay for childhood sexual abuse.
