My brain is an asshole. I have edited only 6 pages today because it started aching and making me drowsy. I tried napping. Nope, didn't work. Meditated. Nope, still buzzing. Yesterday I even went for a walk (I don't come out of the house often). It did fine for a while, then got back to its incessant activity. This morning I could've slept in, but no, it woke me up before my alarm.
DEAR BRAIN, GIVE ME SOME REST, WILL YOU?
I have noticed this happening at the end of each book I write. It's like there is an internal clock sitting in my skull that is rushing me to complete it. The closer I get to the end, the more wound up I am. This final draft has 46 pages left to be edited, and the race to the end is accelerating. I'll go and try napping again. If it won't work, maybe I should drive my head through the wall, see how it likes that.
