Look what I'm finally starting to read. Nikolai Gogol's Dead Souls, translated (of course) by Pevear & Volokhonsky (don't read any other translation). It took him 18 years to write it, with the goal to show the world the immensity of the Russian soul.
This is the cover Gogol drew himself for the first edition. Considering the years he lived and the work he produced, Gogol was like Russian Poe, and at that I can't wait to dive into it, to see how it reads in English.
