Finally starting to find contemporary women authors to my liking. Lidia Yuknavitch was one such brilliant find. And now Caitlín R. Kiernan.
What is it I just read? Spooky legends of trees and wolves within an unfinished manuscript that is within a diary that also contains a short story and is peppered with passages from Thoreau and Poe and Carroll and is within yet another story that quotes a passage from a book that...well. I better stop here. Writers, read this book. It's as much about the mystery of writing as it is about the mystery of what a story is. A mood. An atmosphere. A feeling. Told in a kind of a poetic in-your-face insanity. Loved it.
