I know I haven't posted here in a long time. But @kseniaanske said I should, I figured what the fuck, why not? So, this project was influenced by a few different items; a book series published by Mina Bach, A trip to the Susan B. Anthony house with author Sonja Livingston, and the illustrations of @annagrunduls. I'll keep my explanation short, and by that I mean I'll copy and paste it from IG.
After the afore mentioned trip to the Susan B. Anthony house, I started stumbling around the internet for writers of the era. I came across several mentions of the author Marietta Holley. Looking for available copies of her book, I was dismayed at what was available. From what I understand, Holley was as well regarded in her time to that of her contemporary, Mark Twain. However I couldn’t find a book written by her at the local Barnes & Noble. So I’m doing what any respectable book designer should do. I’m publishing one of her novels myself.
Anna Grunduls was kind enough to work with me on the cover. The image of the parasol will wrap around to the back of the book. I couldn’t be happier with it. If you get an opportunity, you should defiantly check out more of her illustrations.
I have a copy of the text for Samantha At Saratoga that I’m formatting for print. I expect to be able to publish in late May.
